Adversity is only the Beginning

ADVERSITY:

In life, it’s not whether you meet adversity but how, and our mission is to give power to a movement making this process okay and manageable. To educate people that there is always a way and path forward.

In turn, our secondary aim is to make this philosophy achievable, this is through simplifying it and demonstrating pathways forward, thus giving every person not only the opportunity and knowledge of how, but the desire to grow through their circumstance. To be a vehicle for positive change.

WRITING:

Everybody has a story to tell, everybody is unique and beautiful too. So, if you choose to write about your journey (either publicly or privately for self-healing) we aim to provide you with the tools and know-how to best do this. There's nothing more that we would delight in than to see you embrace your authentic writer's voice wholeheartedly.

"Nobody is you and that is your power."

DOCUMENTING LIFE

For several years I've searched the internet for role models and stories of disability, or to put this in my terms, I've been searching for someone who gives voice to those who are suffering. Over the years, I've found a few people of interest, most being amputees or cancer patients (and most being in pre-existing relationships), yet none of these people shared their struggles as openly and authentically as I would have liked. There was always censorship involved. Maybe they had something to lose or a lot more than I do?

This frustrated me; all I wanted was somebody I could relate to —a transparent role model to help ease the pain. Only I was surprised how hidden the world of extreme disability was. I never found my role model nor the ”voice for those who are suffering.”

To bring light to situations similar to my own, for years now, I've written publicly about my struggles. I've even dreamt of making a documentary about my life. I'm trying to provide the voice that I never had. A voice to offer comfort and a knowing that you're not alone.

Providing this voice, honestly, I've started to believe that a large portion of my life purpose revolves around this. And as you'll see, a lot of my decision-making and life choices revolve around this as well. I'm committed to my mission.

But as far as a visual representation of this voice (rather than the written word), I've always felt that it could be compelling, far-reaching, and eye-opening. Something I haven't worked out how to execute just yet, something on my radar nevertheless. In fact, as I'm such a dreamer, I've always dreamt of filming my own miraculous recovery (to the point of starting to walk again) and, with the footage, make one hellu’va inspirational movie. Dreams, oh dreams.

Success isn’t about emerging unscathed, we are changed, and quite often for the better.

Life Coaching

Our intention is to put frameworks into place that create a positive and thriving support community (and online community). This will not only allow people to interact but to share ideas, share successes and to educate themselves.

We will also provide specific services and products for those in need of extra support. Primarily these centre around the online courses.

The eventual aim is to make ‘our community’ more life conscious and embracing of circumstance – with the main focuses being holistic health, mindfulness, living without limits, environmentalism & human behaviour.

Physical Resources

It’s sometimes hard to complete a project without all the tools; and we as human beings, we are definitely a constant work in progress. So in order to embrace our paths that little more, or to even learn that little more, or to make our life that little bit easier, at Grow Through we are providing tools to help.

Essentially these will be directed at persons experiencing a health challenge (or life challenge for that matter) yet they will also be easily utilised by those looking to live a cleaner and a more fulfilling life.

Some of these tools will be books (education related), teas & spices (health related) or even t-shirts and bean bags (comfort related).

"Mark taught me that experiencing hard times was something that you had to work through, and that if life was worth living so you had to fight for it. He showed me how to laugh and he taught me how to adapt and explore each person and their needs.

As a timid person, Mark still took me in and took me through step-by-step with what was needed. He has such a wicked sense of humor that sometimes you had to hide your smile. Mark was up front and honest which showed all who worked with him his strength and determination.

I hold true the lessons he taught me to this day and I am so thankful I got to work with him."
